Accounting Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Accounting Supervisor will supervise the general accounting area of the company.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversee various accounting functions, which include accrual accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable across multiple companies.
• Implements training for new hires and identifies training opportunities for current staff.
• Assists Controller by overseeing the system of internal controls over accounting functions to minimize risk.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists with the preparation of monthly financial statements.
• Ensures that financial accounting complies with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards as applicable..
• Facilitates transformation of data into useful format by GL accountants.
• Assists external auditors and provides required statements and information for the annual audit.
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures for various accounting functions..
• Complies with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Identifies and recommends updates to accounting processes and procedures, especially in relation to ERP utilization..
• Ensures sales tax compliance across multiple companies’ business lines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Mastery of accounting and tax preparation software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Business Administration preferred.
• Experience with an ERP suite preferred.
• Five years or more of related clerical experience required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
