Land Acquisition Agent

Location: Apple Valley, MN | Local and Regional Travel Required

About the Position

JCG is seeking a relationship-focused Land Acquisition Agent to join our team based out of our Apple Valley, Minnesota office. This position focuses on working directly with landowners to negotiate land agreements, easements, and other property rights needed for various projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience in land acquisition, right-of-way, or real estate negotiations. Experience with renewable energy projects, particularly wind energy, is preferred but not required. We are also interested in candidates with general land acquisition experience who have strong negotiation skills and the ability to build positive, lasting relationships with landowners.

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys working independently, meeting with landowners, navigating negotiations, and finding solutions that help projects move forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, contact, and build relationships with landowners within assigned project areas.


• Negotiate land agreements, easements, leases, and other property rights in support of project requirements.


• Explain project needs and proposed agreement terms clearly and professionally.


• Address landowner questions and concerns and work toward mutually acceptable agreements.


• Maintain ongoing communication with landowners throughout the negotiation process.


• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with landowners, clients, project managers, and other stakeholders.


• Track negotiation progress and provide timely updates on project status, challenges, and potential issues.


• Work independently to manage assigned projects, prioritize landowner outreach, and meet project timelines.


• Travel to project locations, meet with landowners, and attend project-related meetings as needed, primarily in the Apple Valley, Minnesota region.


• Perform other duties related to land acquisition and right-of-way activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in land acquisition, right-of-way, real estate negotiations, or a related field preferred.


• Renewable energy experience, particularly wind energy development, is highly desirable but not required.


• Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.


• Ability to establish trust and work effectively with landowners from a variety of backgrounds.


• Confidence in handling difficult conversations, addressing concerns, and working through negotiations.


• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.


• Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records of contacts and negotiation progress.


• Willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned region.


• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
