The Activities Department Program Professional is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, programming, and experiences for members and guests while supporting the growth and engagement of Village activities. This commission-based position may include private lessons, group classes, clinics, workshops, camps, special events, and other approved programming based on the professional’s area of expertise.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, engaging, and customer-service focused, with the ability to create a welcoming and enriching experience for participants of all ages and skill levels.
Essential Job Functions
Provide high-quality private instruction, group classes, clinics, workshops, and/or specialty programming within the professional’s area of expertise.
Develop and facilitate engaging activities that meet the interests and needs of Village members and guests.
Create a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment consistent with Village Standards: People, Places, and Programs.
Build relationships with members and encourage participation in ongoing programs and activities.
Assist with the development, promotion, and implementation of new programs and special events.
Collaborate with the Activities Department to schedule, market, and grow programming.
Maintain a professional, dependable, and service-oriented presence when interacting with members, guests, and employees.
Provide appropriate instruction, guidance, coaching, and encouragement to participants.
Promote continued participation and identify opportunities to expand programming and membership engagement.
Complete required administrative tasks, including attendance, scheduling, program information, and other department requirements.
Support Village-wide events and initiatives as requested.
Follow all Village policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable youth-program requirements.
Compensation
This is a commission-based position.
Compensation is based on approved programming, lessons, classes, events, or other services provided.
Commission structure and rates will be determined by the Village and outlined separately.
Program Professionals are responsible for maintaining their availability and working with the Activities Department to establish mutually agreed-upon schedules.
Knowledge & Skills Required
Demonstrated experience and expertise in the applicable activity, sport, art, educational discipline, or specialty area.
Previous teaching, coaching, instructing, or program facilitation experience required.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
Ability to work effectively with children, adults, and families, depending on the program.
Professional, reliable, and enthusiastic approach to working with members and guests.
Ability to independently lead programs while collaborating with Activities Department Director.
Must successfully complete any required background screening for youth programming.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, based on program needs.
Knowledge & Skills Preferred
Experience working in a private club, high-end health club, resort, private school, or similar member-focused environment.
Experience developing and growing specialty programming.
Experience working with diverse age groups and skill levels.
Strong network or community presence within the applicable area of expertise.
Required Abilities
Clearly communicate instructions, expectations, and information to participants.
Create engaging and appropriate experiences for various ages and skill levels.
Demonstrate professionalism and excellent customer service.
Manage classes, lessons, activities, and events in an organized and timely manner.
Adapt instruction and programming based on participant needs and abilities.
Work independently while maintaining strong communication with the Activities Department.
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements will vary based on the specific activity. The position may require:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, or movement while teaching or facilitating activities.
Sitting for extended periods when appropriate to the activity.
Clear verbal communication and the ability to demonstrate or explain skills.
Ability to safely handle and transport activity-specific equipment, as required.
Ability to lift and carry equipment appropriate to the program.
Working Conditions
Combination of member-facing instruction, program facilitation, events, and administrative responsibilities.
Activities may take place indoors, outdoors, or in designated Village facilities.
Evening and weekend work may be required based on program schedules and special events.
Position requires a professional appearance, positive attitude, and commitment to providing an exceptional member experience.
