Job Description - Activity Aid - Koru


SUMMARY

The Activities Aid reports to the Activity Director. The activity Aid is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and assisting with executing the activities as delegated by supervisor, and perform tasks in accordance with policies and procedures, current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our community.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinates the activities necessary in the fulfillment of project assignments, quality and scheduling guidelines outlined by supervisor.
  • Work with supervisor to implementing activities that accommodate those with special accommodations.
  • Assist supervisor with maintaining files and records as delegated by supervisor.
  • Assist supervisor with audits and updates to records and files as delegated by supervisor.
  • Observing participants at events to gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events.
  • Assisting supervisor with records, as delegated to, regarding event planning resources, participant interest, and other notable information, such as injuries or behavioral incidents.
  • Reporting medical concerns or observations.
  • Assist supervisor with ensuring that events are well-provisioned and that the event takes place on time.
  • Adhering to and enforcing all safety procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.   • Must have a minimum of two years of experience, preferably in a resident activities program within a health care setting.
  • Must possess leadership and teamwork ability.
  • Consistently maintains high levels of activity; sustaining long working hours when necessary. Operates with vigor, energy and effectiveness over long periods of time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with people at different organizational levels both inside and outside the company. Ability to also communicate with and respect the needs of the senior population.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a courteous and helpful demeanor.
  • Well developed problem-solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activities practices.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, and implement the goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. of the activities program.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to maintain stamina, stand, sit, walk, climb stairs and use his/her hands. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision.
