Acute Neurology Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform neurological assessments, histories, and physical exams on acute and critically ill patients
  

• Assist in the diagnosis and management of stroke, TIA, epilepsy, migraines, and other acute neurologic conditions
  

• Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests including neuroimaging, EEGs, and labs
  

• Initiate and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with attending neurologists
  

• Prescribe medications including controlled substances within scope of privileges
  

• Provide education to patients and families regarding diagnosis, care plans, and discharge instructions
  

• Participate in inpatient rounding, consultations, and coordination of care
  

• Respond to acute neurologic consults and participate in hospital stroke alerts, when applicable
  

• Document all care provided in the EMR accurately and timely
  

• Participate in call coverage or weekend rotations as needed
  

Qualifications:

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing
  

• Certified Nurse Practitioner with Acute Care specialty (ACNP)
  

• Licensure as an APRN in [Insert State]
  

• National board certification (ANCC or AACN)
  

• DEA license required (or eligibility)
  

• BLS and ACLS required
  

• Neurology or neurocritical care experience preferred but not required
