Minimum Requirements:

Education:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Candidates aged 16 years are allowed, but 18 years of age is preferred.

Experience:

• Must have at least 6 months work experience with individuals with disabilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

• CPR/First Aid Certificate: Must have a current certification or be able to complete training.
• Must possess a valid Arizona Class “D” Driver’s License upon hire.

The City of Peoria is seeking a Recreation Leader I for the Adaptive Recreation Division. This position plays a vital role in meeting the needs of the adaptive population in and around Peoria.

As a Recreation Leader I, you will work in various adaptive programs, including but not limited to:

• Special Olympics
• Friday Night Dances
• Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) Adult Day Program/Summer Program

The primary responsibilities for candidates hired through this recruitment will include assisting with Friday Night Dances and Special Olympics sports within the Adaptive Recreation Division.

The mission of the City of Peoria’s Adaptive Recreation Division is: To provide a continuum of leisure opportunities and related services designed to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.

The rate of pay for this position is $16.74.

The ideal candidate for this position will:

• Have a strong background in working or volunteering with individuals with disabilities.
• Demonstrate a passion for improving the lives of participants.
