Summary
Illinois Central College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach Automotive classes. If courses are available, adjuncts may continue to teach future semesters. The adjunct faculty are primarily responsible for teaching assigned courses, while maintaining programmatic and accreditation standards. Adjunct faculty must adhere to instructional syllabi, support student success, and maintain access for students during office hours. Maximum assignment may be up to 12 contact hours for fall and spring semesters, and if also teaching summer, contact hours must be maintained at or below 29 for the academic year.

Essential Functions

Deliver engaging and effective instruction in automotive technology courses.
Develop and update curriculum to reflect current industry standards and emerging technologies.
Provide hands-on training in vehicle diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.
Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain a safe and organized lab environment.
Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and curriculum planning.
Support students in achieving industry certifications and career readiness.
Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
ASE certifications in areas to be taught or the ability to obtain them by the start date with a minimum of 2,000 hours of documented industry experience in automotive repair or service.
Solid problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
Preferred Qualifications
Master ASE Certifications.
Advanced-level certifications including L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist L3 Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist.
Five or more years of industry experience in automotive repair.
Associate’s degree or higher in Automotive Repair Technology.
Prior teaching or instructional experience, especially in a technical or vocational setting.
Experience in repair and calibration of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
Hands-on experience with electric and hybrid vehicle service and repair.
