Job Description - Adjunct - Forensic and Legal Psychology

Title: Adjunct - Forensic & Legal Psychology

Location: Arlington, Virginia 
Position Type: Part-Time (Adjunct/Contract) 
Reports To: School Director

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in FLP 

  • Prepare and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction (in-person, hybrid, or online as assigned) 

  • Develop syllabi and course materials aligned with departmental standards 

  • Assess student performance and provide timely feedback 

  • Maintain regular communication with students and department leadership 

  • Office hours - Faculty need to be available for at least one additional hour per week for each course taught, to advise students concerning their coursework. 

Required Qualifications 

  • JD or Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or closely related field (Doctorate preferred for graduate-level instruction) 

  • Strong communication and instructional skills 

  • Commitment to inclusive excellence and student success 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Prior college-level teaching experience 

  • Experience with learning management systems and online teaching platforms 

  • Experience working with diverse and first-generation student populations

  • Teaching philosophy (2 pages max). Please detail your interest and prior experience with teaching diverse adult learners. Describe three values that guide your teaching practices, focusing on engagement with diverse students and how you will foster an inclusive classroom environment that removes barriers and promotes equitable access and advancement. Include examples from past experiences teaching and/or mentoring students 

  • Unofficial copies of graduate transcripts 

  • A list of three professional references and their contact information

Compensation/Benefits 

Adjuncts receive remuneration on a semester basis, and may range from $1,200/credit hour.

They may make their own contribution to a 403b retirement plan.
