The Calumet College of Saint Joseph (CCSJ) Biomedical and Health Sciences Department is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach BIOL 115/115L: Cell and Evolution Lecture and Lab. This majors-only course examines fundamental concepts in cellular biology and evolutionary theory, providing a foundation for advanced studies in the biological sciences. Students will cover the structure and function of the four classes of macromolecules—lipids, carbohydrates, proteins, and nucleic acids—and explore structure-function relationships in cellular processes. Students will compare prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, describe cellular energy pathways, and analyze how information flows within cells. The course introduces biotechnology topics such as cloning, DNA sequencing, gene therapy, and stem cell research.
Opportunities to teach additional courses within the Department of Biomedical & Health Sciences may be available in current or future semesters, contingent upon departmental needs and candidate qualifications.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant field (Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related). PhD or terminal degree preferred. Experience teaching undergraduate biology courses is preferred. Adjunct faculty may teach up to three sections per semester.
