Provides administrative duties for the Town of Bennett such as clerical tasks, phone handling, mail
distribution, meeting preparation, scheduling, and internal coordination. Performs passport processing
and backup support in at least one operational area (utility billing, building permits, public works
coordination) and assists with event-related logistics. The role requires flexibility, strong customer
service skills, and a proactive, self-motivated mindset in a fast-paced environment. Performs work
under general supervision and handles routine administrative issues with growing independence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Assistant II:
Answers and screens incoming phone calls with professionalism
Greets and assists Town Hall visitors, providing excellent customer service
Manages room scheduling and shared calendars
Processes incoming and outgoing mail
Coordinates basic meeting logistics, including setup and document prep
Maintains shared workspaces, breakrooms, and lobby appearance
Orders office supplies and manages stock levels
Trained and certified to be a passport agent
Trained to support one critical function: utility billing, permit technician, or public works coordinator
Assists with logistical support for Town events (vendor communication, ordering, reservations)
Participates in internal service tasks such as staff appreciation activities
Accepts payments and processes basic cash receipts
Other duties as assigned
Administrative Assistant III (In addition to Administrative Assistant II responsibilities):
Fully trained as backup for utility billing, permit technician, and public works coordinator
Takes initiative in projects and departmental improvements
Mentors junior administrative staff
Leads setup for Town events and staff functions
Supports interdepartmental coordination and problem-solving
Handles confidential projects with direction
Assists in creation of internal procedures or documentation
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace
All systems tied to passport processing, billing, permits, and public works coordinator
Administrative practices in municipal government
Education and Experience Requirements:
High School degree; minimum two years of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid Colorado's Driver's License
Work Environment:
General office environment but may require visits to locations outside of Town Hall. Noise level in the
work environment is usually moderate. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50
pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
Salary range:
Administrative Assistant II: $46,000-$59,400 plus benefit package.
Administrative Assistant III: $54,100 – $65,600 plus benefit package.
