Job Description - Administrative Fellow

Overview:
 

The Cone Health Administrative Fellowship is a dynamic, two-year postgraduate experience that provides Fellows with comprehensive exposure to core components of the Cone Health enterprise. Cone Health is seeking highly motivated, forward-thinking individuals with a passion for healthcare to apply for the 2025-2027 Cone Health Administrative Fellowship. Application Requirements:

The 2025-2027 Cone Health Administrative Fellowship is open to anyone with a graduate degree including but not limited to MHA, MBA, MPH, and MSHA. All coursework and degrees must be completed by May 2025. Applicants who must complete a fellowship to fulfill a graduation are welcomed to apply.

Prompted Personal Statement Questions:  Please answer each of the questions below (in 300 words or less per response). Place all answers into one PDF document. Please also denote whether your interest is finance, operations or both.

 

1. Please provide an example of when you successfully implemented process improvements and how do you envision applying similar strategies to Cone Health, specifically focused on operational efficiency.

2. Given the dynamic nature of healthcare finance, how would you balance the need for cost containment with the imperative to maintain high-quality patient care, and what strategies would you employ to achieve this balance at Cone Health? How does the value-based care environment impact your answer?

3. Cone Health places significant value on continuous learning and development. Please describe a time when you actively sought new knowledge and skills to address a complex issue. How do you plan to integrate a commitment to lifelong learning into your professional career, beginning as a fellow?

4. What is on the horizon for healthcare that you are most excited about? How do you see Cone Health operating in the future?

Job Description: 

 

 

The intent of the Administrative Fellowship is to develop leaders who intend to pursue a career in healthcare administration. The role of an Administrative Fellow is to utilize and further develop the skills and knowledge acquired during graduate education and previous work experiences, within a formal health care setting. The fellowship is designed to provide the fellow with opportunities to:
-Develop a practical understanding of clinical and administrative interrelationships in a health care organization.
-Further the development of a code of personal ethics and dedication to the high ideals and standards, which are essential for a career in health care administration.
-Improve the fellow's understanding of the concepts and principles presented in the didactic portion of their program.
- Strengthen leadership, judgment, problem-solving and administrative skills.
 -Develop an understanding of the inadequacies and constraints of the health care delivery system and the role of the administrator in maximizing the quality of services available in the system.
 -Develop goals for personal and professional development.

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

 
Attend and participate in health system meetings, including Leadership Council, Executive Vice President, Board of Trustees and associated Committee meetings, other meetings as assigned that meet the needs of the fellow and the organization.

Collaborate with leaders to identify potential project assignments within the health system. Participate in operational problem solving and critical thinking solutions. Participate in key enterprise-wide events, such as budgeting processes, accreditation surveys and IT transitions. Oversee major projects assigned by leaders, such as a task force, program change and/or development of a new program plan that affect the organization at-large.

Develop effective relationships with multiple constituencies within the organization.

Observe administrative practices within a community setting. Develop strong relationships with key community stakeholders. Participate and seek involvement in community-focused events that affect healthcare.

Rotation through the major administrative and clinical areas within the organization. Become acquainted with the organization•s history, environment, structure and governance.

Qualifications:

 

EDUCATION:
Required - Masters-prepared individuals who have completed the degree requirements or are candidates (on schedule to complete degree before June 1, 2025) in health care administration (MHA), business administration (MBA), public health (MPH), health services administration (MSHA), nursing (MSN), or related field of study

 

EXPERIENCE:
Health care experience highly preferred

REQUIRED
Valid driver's licesne required.
