Description

The Manager for Medical Education Administration (Manager) is responsible for supporting day-to-day operations of the Department, ensuring that the staff, faculty, and educational program are supported efficiently and effectively. The Manager will report to the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education Administration and will collaborate and partner with divisional and departmental leaders to ensure departmental operations, staffing, training, and administrative initiatives are executed in a thoughtful, timely and strategic way. The Manager will contribute to the overall success of the team that that supports the Medical Education program.

The Manager serves as a key operational resource for the Department, supporting workforce management, employee engagement, onboarding, training, and departmental initiatives. The position supports departmental leadership in in the hiring and training of all faculty and has overall responsibility for the training, development and advancement of the staff that supports the department. 



Responsibilities
  • Manage the full cycle recruiting process, source and identify candidates through various channels including job boards, resume databases, professional associations, networking.
  • Liaise with HR on all areas related to recruitment, retention, and staff development, and employee relations 
  • Manage staff and faculty employee onboarding and separation process

  • Advise faculty and managers on best practices in engagement, recruitment and retention
  • Manage in-house employee and faculty training system that addresses departmental training needs including training needs assessment, management, staff skills development and the measurement of training impact, and training transfer.
  • Support the implementation of the performance management process and that includes performance development plans and employee development programs.
  • In collaboration with Senior Associate Dean, support employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation
  • Ensures that the work environment is safe and supports the needs of the department
  • Stays abreast of policy developments, institutional, national, state and local labor law and best practices
  • Interprets, administers and implements policies and procedures 
  • Manage projects that are department-wide administrative priorities
  • Innovate and create new ways to convey complex information to galvanize the department around strategic priorities
  • Represent the Department of Medical Education, to the broader medical school community on issues related to staffing, faculty affairs and engagement
  • Take an active role in the national landscape of medical education administration – including participating and presenting at meetings and conferences
  • Projects and assigned tasks as required


Qualifications
  • BA/BS or work experience commensurate with education

    Qualifications and related experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience in management and leadership
  • Demonstrated leadership competency and ability to develop productive working relationships with multiple constituencies (faculty, staff, students, etc)
  • Strong team player
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Initiative to seek alternative approaches and solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, multi-task, and understand the big picture

  • Commitment to customer service

  • Ability to enforce standards of professionalism and to resolve conflicts across a broad spectrum (involving faculty, staff, and student needs)

 

Compensation Statement

 

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $78,884.00 - $118,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
