SONL Board Assessment Specialist

Administrative Specialist 2
Oregon Board of Parole & Post-Prison Supervision
Salem, Oregon (Hybrid)

At the Oregon Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision, we work in partnership with the Department of Corrections and local community corrections to protect communities and reduce the risk of repeat criminal behavior. Our decisions – guided by law, victim interests, and evidence-based practices – shape prison terms, release conditions, and supervision for offenders in the justice system.

As part of our Sex Offender Notification and Leveling (SONL) Unit, you’ll play a key role in a statewide program that determines notification levels for registrants, processes relief and reclassification requests, and ensures compliance with Oregon statutes and rules. Using risk assessment tools, case research, and analytical methods, you’ll make clear, defensible recommendations that help inform public notification and support community safety.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assess Risk: Apply laws, rules, and policies to determine which risk assessment tool applies to each case and complete assessments to establish sex offender notification levels.

  • Research Records: Gather and review detailed criminal history and case information using various court and law enforcement systems, along with other sources.

  • Process Requests: Review and process offender or attorney requests for reclassification or relief from sex offender registration.

  • Communicate Clearly: Respond to inquiries from law enforcement, legal professionals, and agency leadership. Explain procedures, assessments, and outcomes in a clear and professional manner.

  • Support Program Integrity: Help monitor program compliance, recommend policy updates, and support long- and short-term program goals.
