Description of Work

This position reports directly to the Administrative Officer. The main duties of this position include Processing e-procurement requests for the Administrative Section, Community & Engagement Section, Director’s Office, Collections, and Finance. Support all administrative functions of the above sections including AIHC and AACC festival reporting and support. The person in this position must have excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication and customer service skills to work effectively with people. The person must have the ability to pay close attention to detail, have planning and organizational skills, along with the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Provide administrative support to the Administrative Section, Community & Engagement Section, Director’s Office, Collections, and Finance.
• Provide administrative support for the two major festivals.
• Arrange meetings for planning committees, take minutes at the meetings and distribute those minutes.
• Manage invoice payments, receipts from events, and monitor budgets for each section.
• Multi-task and work under stringent deadlines.
• Work as a member of a team to accomplish the objectives of the organization.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures that are relevant to State purchasing.

Recruitment Range: $39,244.00 - $39,870.00

  • Experience working for a government entity in a business office setting.

Position/Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work Monday – Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

  • Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects with or without accommodation

    Minimum Education and Experience

    High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience;

    or

    equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Section/Unit Description

    The Budget and Finance Section of the North Museum of History monitors and reports all fiscal transactions related to the museum and its satellite museums across the state. This section ensures that the museum is adhering to all state, federal, and local governmental financial policies, and procedures.

    The North Carolina Museum of History Division promotes the understanding of the history and material culture of North Carolina for the educational benefit of North Carolinians. Through collections and historical Interpretation, its museums encourage citizens and visitors to explore and understand the past; to reflect on their lives and their place in history; and to preserve state, regional, and local history for future generations.

    Veteran’s and National Guard Preference
