We are hiring an Administrative Staff Specialist Senior for one of our clients in Trenton, NJ.

Job Description:

The requested Sr. Administrative Staff Specialist will assist in the implementation of the DHS drug testing program, review and evaluate criminal history record information (CHRI), review and assess documents relating to CHRI, prepare and disseminate notification and documents citing statutory requirements relating to CHRI finding for applicants, and in the implementation and tracking of the child abuse registry information (CARI) checks.

The Sr. Administrative Staff Specialist will review databases to ensure compliance with established statutes, field calls, respond to general inquiries and provide customer service to stakeholders. The Sr. Administrative Staff Specialist will also assist the DHS Office of Licensing to prepare compliance reports in advance of agency inspections reporting those agency employees who were fingerprinted, those who have been disqualified, CARI checks completed, drug tests completed, random drug tests completed, archives requested and Central Registry compliance. All responsibilities of Administrative Staff Specialist.

  • Executes policy work.
  • Manages a program, formulates budgets, and drafts legislative bills.
  • Performs administrative, analytical, legislative, programmatic, budgetary and liaison functions.
  • Ensures agency compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Considerable knowledge of the agency's programs, policies, operations and budget processes.
  • Considerable knowledge of the organization and operations of state government.
  • Considerable knowledge of the legislative process and of applicable regulations, i.e., the Administrative Process Act.
  • Working knowledge of research methods.
  • Some knowledge of office procedures and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform quantitative and narrative reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research, and make sound recommendations and decisions.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Collect and enter data into various data bases.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding program activities
  • To review, evaluate, and interpret criminal history record information.
  • To determine fitness for employment according to statutory regulations.
  • To review and assess legal and non-legal documents to determine qualification or disqualification of employment.
  • Work with applicant's resolve missing dispositions.
  • To prepare and disseminate according to statutory requirements, notifications and documents relating to criminal history record information (CHRI) findings.
  • To provide investigative services relating to CHRI, working closely with local, state and federal entities.

Skills required:

  • Organized, team player, attention to detail, good time management skills. Good customer service skills.

Work hours:

  • 09: 00 am to 05:00 pm
  • Lunch: 1 hour (unpaid)
