Overview
Administrator - Creative Design and Marketing interprets City department requirements and requests and translates them into various creative solutions. This role involves managing a creative team, which includes copywriters, graphic artists, and digital content specialists. The Creative Administrator must be exceptional at pitching creative concepts to departments and City Executives, as well as communicating ideas and creating concepts for other team members.
Essential Functions
1 Transform abstract departmental concepts and needs into refined, creative solutions by assisting departments with planning, developing, implementation of marketing activities.
2 Oversee the City's marketing and branding to ensure a consistent brand visual identity.
3 Take responsibility for the creative vision and maintain high standards across team members' outputs.
4 Work with senior officials, and staff to identify strong messages, compelling stories to build on the City's reputation as a world-class City that provides excellent and best in class services and programs;
5 Builds relationships with employees, elected officials, community organizations, business enterprises, the media, special interest groups, and other interested individuals.
6 Pitch ideas confidently and present the creative vision clearly to clients, while also effectively communicating with the creative team.
7 Exhibit strong supervisory, people management, and leadership skills to lead, inspire, hire, develop, and oversee the creative team.
8 Ensure all organizational creative outputs and visuals align with the City’s overall brand and visual identity.
9 Lead multiple projects from conception to completion, adhering to deadlines.
10 Build and maintain strong working relationships with other departments across the City, by working collaboratively, providing follow-up, timely and successful project completion.
11 Ask insightful questions, take risks, and champion new ideas.
12 Report out metrics on the effectiveness and impact of marketing efforts and campaigns.
13 Evaluate market research findings and advise leadership/develop plans for alignment or course correction to meet strategic initiatives.
14 Support the web/digital communications strategy for the City, integrating web platforms, social media, and video production.
15 Actively seek feedback from internal and external stakeholders related to the effectiveness of marketing strategy and the needs of different constituencies.
17 Support the development, content creation, timely production, and distribution of special City publications including but not limited to annual reports, magazines, newsletters, brochures, and online content.
18 Organizes city-wide initiatives as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
A Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Marketing or a marketing-related field.
AND
Experience
Ten (10) or more years of creative direction experience including a minimum of 2 years of management/supervisory experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience creatively directing complex solutions for digital products.

Equivalencies (Education and Experience)
1) A Master’s degree in required fields plus 8 years of the required related experience including a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
2) An Associate degree in communications related field plus twelve (12) years of the required related experience including a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1 Ability to work with city departments to understand detailed requirements and determine a creative vision that meets their needs but aligns with the City’s creative vision.
2 Excellent interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively communicate the creative vision, concepts, ideas, and solutions to stakeholders, internal teams, and departments.
3 Ability to work effectively in a team setting, including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.
4 Extensive supervisory experience (including leadership, team-building, and delegation) leading and managing a creative team.
5 A solid grasp of art history, design history, photography and the visual arts, pop culture, and counterculture; fluency in current technology, politics, a deep understanding of the zeitgeist of social tastes and current affairs.
6 Ability to collaborate and communicate closely with teams and other stakeholders.
7 Openness to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
