Job Description - Adolescent Center Manager - VMBH Dundalk

Salary: $27.05 per hour 


Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Villa Maria Behavioral Health is seeking an Adolescent Center Manager to be responsible for the planning and supervision of the non-clinical Adolescent Drop in Center offering support to “at-risk” youth ages 12-17.  The Center is an after school and summer program offering a strong structure with sports, arts, educational support and companionship to adolescents in the Dundalk area who are affected directly or indirectly by the drug and alcohol culture.  The work schedule is Monday-Friday 11 AM - 7 PM, 37.5 hours per week. 


Villa Maria Behavioral Health Clinics provide mental and behavioral health services to children, adults, and families across Maryland. These services include individual counseling, family counseling, psychiatric evaluation, social and coping skill development, addiction counseling and treatment, and medication management.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Coordinate family and community events and supervise center staff in a demanding, structured, supportive, and fun atmosphere, allowing persons with addiction and recovery backgrounds to help others through their own personal experiences.

  • Engage youth and caregivers to enroll youth in the program and maintain program census.

  • Insure that center staff have a daily plan and routine for center to ensure it is a safe and engaging atmosphere for teens.

  • Collaborate with internal and external personnel for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining the adolescent activity center.

  • Maintains daily sign in lists, parental consents, and related information to meet grant mandated requirements.

  • Provide community outreach to share information about substance misuse and treatment and support resources, including opportunities for teens to be enrolled in the Adolescent Drop in Center.

  • Responsible for managing and directing work of others, including recruiting new hires, onboarding new staff, and conducting performance reviews.

  • Participate in organizing Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) meetings for the purpose of identifying issues, gaining knowledge, and providing information and or supporting program staff and volunteers.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:



  • High school diploma.

  • Two years’ experience working full-time (volunteer or paid), of direct practice in a structured youth program.


Certification/Licensure:



  • Enroll in a Certification program for Peer Recovery Specialist, Peer Recovery Supervisor, or Peer Recovery Coach within first three months of employment.

  • Excellent relational skills with an ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

  • Effective conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of case management and crisis intervention services.

  • Excellent communication skills including active listening.

  • Ability to act with discretion and professionalism in all situations.

  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate activities as appropriate.

  • Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions. Basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e. Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook skills required.  Other Microsoft Office application knowledge, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, and Box desired.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.

  • Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with others.

  • Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence.   There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede driver’s ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.
