Starting Pay: $20.68 per hour (DOQ)
Summary:
The Adoption Coordinator is responsible for facilitating adoptions and other positive outcomes for the pets in the City shelter's care. Further, this position assists the Outreach Manager in maintaining the adoptions program, the expansion of the program, and with the coordination of shelter volunteers.
Essential Responsibilities:
Ensures a safe and clean adoptions area
Ensures that animals are bathed and prepared for adoption
Supervises the Adoption Specialists and Adoption Volunteers at the Outreach Manager's direction, and in his/her absence
Creates and prepares necessary adoption paperwork
Assists potential adopters in selecting the most appropriate new pet for their household
Facilitates "Meet and Greets" for potential adopters
Finalizes adoption paperwork
Assists with Behavior Assessment Groups
Assists in maintaining Adoption records
Coordinates with shelter staff, adoptions staff, veterinary staff, and other pertinent individuals as needed on availability of animals, shelter space issues. etc.
May attend community events to promote AMW
Work autonomously and perform well under pressure
Ability to pay attention to detail
Will video and photograph animals for social media, website. or email purposes
Conducts self in a professional manner always, in all environments
Assists with ensuring that the AMW website is up to date with current pictures and animal bios
Organizes transport for animals to groomers, veterinarians, the airport, or other locations as needed
Stays current with available shelter animals to assess for rescue and adoption
Provides general customer service to citizens while at the shelter.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to recognize behavioral and medical symptoms, as well as any other basic problems relating to animals.
Ability to adhere to disease management and safety protocols.
Ability to safely handle animals, including those with unknown health and temperament.
Knowledge of disease management, biosecurity, and safety protocols.
Skill in using standard office equipment such as copiers and multi-line phone systems, and computers and related software applications for data entry, word process and accounting purposes.

Required Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
One (1) year of experience working with companion animals is required.
Valid Texas Driver's License Required, or ability to obtain one within two (2) months of hire.
Must have or be able to obtain pre-exposure rabies vaccinations within six (6) months of hire, at cost of employer.
Knowledge of operating computers.
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year of supervisory experience is preferred; however, relevant experience will be considered.
Experience supervising volunteers is preferred.
