Adult Day Services Instructor - M-F done by 3:30 p.m. - No Nights or Weekends!!

JOB SUMMARY:

• Provides instruction, leisure time activities, support and supervision to adults who have developmental disabilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Working as a team to plan daily and monthly activities for the clients while maintaining a positive work environment. Motivates and encourages the clients to be the best they can be while building relationships with clients and employees.
• Assist during arrival and departure for clients boarding various transportation services.
• Oversees and supervises the safety of the clients. Includes response to alarms or emergency notices to evacuate the building or move to shelters but may also include some health monitoring as well as use of gait belts and operation of automated lift equipment.
• Assist in maintaining a neat, clean and safe environment by cleaning bathrooms, sweeping and wiping floors, wiping tables and counters, shampooing furniture and perform general housekeeping as needed.
• Follows safe lifting practices in transferring clients to/from wheelchairs to/from reclining to sitting or standing positions.
• Assists clients with daily personal care as needed including toileting, showering, nail care, tooth brushing, feeding assistance and incontinent care.
• May need to drive client(s) to planned activities within the community or recreational facilities.

Education:

High School Diploma/GED required

Experience:

Experience with people with disabilities, specifically the geriatric population, or another human service group preferred

Hours:

7:30am – 3:30pm, Monday - Friday

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job operates both within ASPIRO (Dousman) facilities and at various social or recreational settings outside the ASPIRO facility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job requires stamina to complete a full day and maintain attention to details (anticipates and/or resolves obstacles to clients’ safety). During the performance of this job the staff will stand, stoop, crouch or walk on a regular basis to adjust wheelchairs, assist clients with personal care, participate with clients in social or recreational activities.
