ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Examining patients to determine general physical condition in accordance with standard medical procedures.
Screen clients for appropriate admission to level 3.2 clinical detox services utilizing standard screening tools. Ex: CIWA COWS, pain and suicidal screening tools.
Refer clients to additions needed medical care outside the facility such as 3.7 detox, pain management, MAT and laboratory testing.
Documenting residents’ daily progress, medication changes and referrals.
Identify a plan of care and evaluate the clients progress toward attainment of the outcomes, working collaboratively with the clinical team.
Diagnoses and prescribes medications and other therapeutic interventions as deemed necessary for TNR clients.
Work with the executive team to develop, implement and update policies and procedures to include medical protocols as needed.
Provide feedback during needed case staffing across True North behavioral health system of care.
Provide medication support to include medication rounds across the True North behavioral health system of care
Provide training for required staff on medication interactions and reactions in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Ensure compliance with all State and federal requirements, policies & procedures, laws and best practice guidelines approved by True North. Inc
Attend community groups, committees, meetings and board as requested by the CEO
Maintain and build a working relationship with all community partner agencies.
Continue to stay current on training and education needed to perform duties to a high standard.
Maintain TNR culture
Be available for medical consultation 24/7
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of post-residency experience as a physicianCurrent license and in good standing with licensing board standards.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Have current prescription writing authority in the state of Alaska.
Be registered with the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP).
Have a current DEA number and be training in opioid usage and pain management.
Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory state and federal background check.
COMPETENCIES
A thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population.
Knowledge of alcoholism and drug addiction as a disease that requires medical support
Ability to communicate proficiently verbally and in writing
Demonstrate the ability to respond to crises, situations and emergencies with good judgement.
Working knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and 42 CFR.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple responsibilities and tasks to completion.
Understanding of Trauma informed care.
Understanding of addiction and recovery
Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and initiative.
Demonstrate positive work ethic and organizational skills.
Exercise good judgment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role is primarily performed in an office building with standard office environment and controlled temperatures. When working outdoors or at a job site the employee may be exposed to construction equipment or other moving objects/equipment; reference job site specifics. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk/hear, see, read, and personally interact with others.
