Job Description - Advanced Practice Provider Pediatric Inpatient BMT

Job Description:

When you join us, you’ll become a part of a nationally recognized health system dedicated to our mission of “helping people live the healthiest lives possible.”

About this role:

This Advanced Practice Provider will join our nationally ranked pediatric program at Primary Children’s Hospital. This APP will have primary responsibilities on the inpatient Bone Marrow Transplant & Immunology service. The ideal candidate will have APP experience with the Pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT population, although those with prior APP experience or prior Hem/Onc/BMT experience may be considered.

Our Immunology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant/Cellular Therapy Program provides comprehensive, highly specialized care for pediatric patients—ranging in age from newborn through mid-20s—throughout the Intermountain West. As the premier pediatric hospital covering this large catchment area, we care for patients requiring bone marrow transplant for both malignant and non‑malignant conditions, cellular therapy, gene therapy, as well as patients with underlying immunodeficiencies or bone marrow failure syndromes. Our esteemed group of pediatric specialty providers deliver coordinated, evidence‑based care that includes complex diagnostic evaluation, long‑term management of transplant‑related complications, and multidisciplinary support tailored to each patient's needs. As active members of multiple national and international consortiums, our program participates in a wide range of clinical trials and collaborative research ensuring our patients have access to cutting‑edge therapies and that we are able to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of care for pediatric patients.

Our team is comprised of 8 physicians, 4 outpatient Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), 6 inpatient APPs, and 4 nurse coordinators. They are further supported by an integrated multidisciplinary team that includes social workers, nurses, pharmacists, and administrative professionals who collaborate to provide exceptional care for this patient population.

In this role, inpatient clinical responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: the assessment and evaluation of patients, new patient transplant and immunology consults, development of care plans, management of prescriptions, management and ordering of chemotherapy and infusions, coordination of home care needs, patient and family education, communication with consulting services, coordination of patient follow-up, completion of procedures (to include lumbar punctures, bone marrow aspirates and biopsies, skin biopsies, and bone marrow harvests), and integration with the multi-disciplinary team to meet patient care needs as appropriate. Participation in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, or department research is also expected.

Advanced Practice providers in this role work twelve hour shifts that include weekdays, weekends, night coverage, and holiday coverage on a rotating basis. This role is part time (0.65 FTE).
