Advanced Production Technician

Lanteris Space is currently seeking an Advanced Production Technician who is highly motivated and dedicated to join our Composites Technology team in Palo Alto, CA. in building spacecraft products geared towards communication satellites and next generation space products. In this role, you will manufacture Composite Components and Assemblies for internal and external Lanteris Space customers.

Responsibilities:

• Perform some complicated lay-ups; lay-ups onto semi complex tooling, (tooling with multiple angles and/or curves) with minimum ply wrinkles and few visible ply overlaps.
• Knowledge of special techniques of working material to eliminate wrinkles and achieve tight compacted lay-ups.
• Know the warp, fill and zero degree fiber direction of fabrics. Know the ribbon direction of honeycomb.
• Demonstrate improved bagging techniques, understanding of how separators, bleeders, breathers and other bagging support materials work in conjunction with debulking, final vacuum bagging and curing.
• Demonstrate an improvement of bonding techniques and quality in adhesive application, fillets, bonding and potting of inserts into panels.
• Exhibit motivation, ability to take on extra responsibilities and more complicated lay-ups.
• Good communication with supervision, engineering and co-workers.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• High school education or the equivalent plus two years technical or engineering training, including statistical techniques and technical writing.
• 4 years of experience. A BS degree may be counted as two years of experienc
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and Composite Manufacturing Instructions (CMI’s).
• Knowledge of standard shop measurement tools such as scales, dial calipers and micrometers.
• Experienced in the use of equipment such as hand drills, drill presses, band saws and grinders.
• Basic knowledge of computers and Windows operating systems.
• Adhesive bonding certificate.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted.
• Work extended hours (overtime) as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A self-starter willing to learn composite manufacturing skills in a fast-paced working environment. Ability to learn quickly, plan, and adapt. 
• Positive attitude and good teamwork skills. Excellent attention to details. Goal oriented; willing to take responsibility and to be held accountable.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work any shift on a flexible schedule as required.
