Job Description - Advancement Assistant

Historic New England (HNE) seeks a detail-oriented professional for the role of Advancement Assistant. Through a combination of administrative support, donor communications, and gift administration, this position plays a critical role in ensuring a positive donor experience and supporting Historic New England's philanthropic goals.


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Provides high-level administrative and operational support to Historic New England's fundraising programs, ensuring the efficient and accurate execution of development activities.

  • Gift processing and data entry, donor acknowledgment and stewardship communications, and the coordination of daily advancement office functions.

  • Manages timely and accurate entry of charitable contributions, assists with the drafting, production, and distribution of donor correspondence and stewardship materials, and helps maintain the integrity of donor records and fundraising data.

  • Provides exceptional customer service to donors, members, and volunteers, serving as a professional and responsive point of contact for inquiries and requests.

  • Provides development event support.


 


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Academic degree, or equivalent combination of skilled credentials to include a minimum two years of relevant job-related experience.

  • Ability to balance and manage competing priorities with flexibility.

  • Excellent internal and external customer service, interpersonal communication, and tact and diplomacy for interaction with high-level constituents.

  • Fully competent computer and technical skills, with a preference for experience with constituent management databases, and advanced working knowledge of MS Office Suite.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting while maintaining precise attention to formats, procedures, details, accuracy, punctuality, and quality.

  • Team player with the ability to work independently.

  • Valid driver’s license and means of transportation.

  • Commitment to the values of diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
