After School Program Assistant - M-F 2:45pm - 6:00pm

The Avery Coonley School is seeking a motivated, reliable and friendly individual to join our team as an After School Program Assistant. The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of our after-school program, working closely with the After School Coordinator to ensure a safe, engaging, and positive environment for all participants.

This is a part-time position offered Monday – Friday, 2:45 pm – 6:00 pm

DUTIES:

• Assist in the planning and implementation of daily activities, including homework help, arts and crafts, sports, and other enrichment activities.
• Supervise students as they play, ensuring physical and social-emotional safety.
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages respect, cooperation, and learning.
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff regarding student progress and program updates.
• Assist with the setup and cleanup of activities and ensure that the campus is kept clean and organized.
• Help manage attendance records and ensure all students are accounted for.
• Assist students with safely getting into vehicles during pickup time, ensuring that they are accounted for and connected with the correct guardian or authorized individual.
• Indoor and outdoor supervision required for daily activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma: some college coursework in education, child development, or a related field is preferred.
• One or more years of experience serving in a similar role at an educational institution or non-profit organization. Independent school experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for working in an educational environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Patience, creativity, and a genuine interest in the well-being of children.
• Ability to pass a background check
