Are you passionate about Vermont food and agriculture? The Administration Division inside The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets (VAAFM) is seeking an Agriculture Disaster Assistance Administrator to oversee and manage the Vermont Agriculture and Timber Disaster Assistance Program. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert on the agricultural landscape in Vermont. They will act as a primary contact on farm natural disaster topics and disaster-recovery focused programming for the Agency.
Prior experience with legislative process, USDA programs, and grants and contracts preferred. Supervises staff responsible for processing disaster relief grant applications. Work is performed under the general direction of the Administrative Services Director IV, but with significant independent judgment and discretion.
This position, Agriculture Disaster Assistance Administrator - Limited Service (Job Requisition #55604), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting, with some travel to outside meetings and site visits, for which private means of transportation must be available.
Bachelor's degree or higher AND three (3) years or more of professional experience in agriculture, environmental and/or climate work, including or supplemented by two (2) or more years of experience interpreting complex laws, rules, and regulations.
OR
Five (5) years or more of professional experience in a wide range of agriculture, environmental and or climate work, including or supplemented by three (3) or more years of experience interpreting complex laws, rules, and regulations.
Experience with grant application and management.
