Job Description - Agronomy Sales Specialist


Job Summary:

The Agronomy Sales Specialist will market our excellent products and services of crop protection products, crop nutrients, seed and other products and services offered to improve the efficiency and profitability for our producers. This is full-time position reports to the Agronomy Sales Manager.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Builds and maintains a relationship with customers through outstanding customer service.
  • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.
  • Communicates with customers to identify and understand their service needs; identifies and suggests products and services to meet those needs.  
  • Develop annual programs that include soil testing, field mapping, product recommendations, timely and accurate application, field monitoring as needed, record keeping and ongoing communication to ensure customer satisfaction or resolve any issues that may arise.  
  • Routinely communicates with existing and previous customers, alerting them of new products or services, to develop individual customer sales strategies. Including, but not limited to, seed, fertilizer, crop protection and other products and services.  
  • Works with the Precision Ag Department to interpret soil sample results and make fertilizer application recommendations.  
  • Maintains detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.
  • Provides periodic territory sales forecasts as requested by the Agronomy Sales Manager.
  • Adheres to Superior Ag’s pricing and credit terms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Excellent sales and negotiation skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Ability to calculate discounts, percentages, volumes, etc.

Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and/or geometry.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Agri-Business, or related field OR

At least three years of related experience required.  

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift/and or move up to 100 pounds at times. 

Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel or crouch.
