Aircraft Support Analyst providing specialized technical and analytical support for aviation assets participating in the Ship Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring (SHAREM) program at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC). This unique position combines hands-on technical engineering responsibilities with analytical expertise, requiring extensive experience in Navy aircraft operations. The role involves providing direct support to aircrew operations, installing and maintaining complex equipment aboard ships and aircraft, and conducting comprehensive analysis of airborne detection system performance during multinational exercises. You will serve as the primary aviation technical expert for SHAREM exercises, working in both shore-based aircraft facilities and shipboard environments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Aircraft Operations & Data Collection
-Observe and collect required data and logs from Navy fixed and rotary wing aircraft participating in ASW exercises.
-Brief and debrief aircrews on exercise event plans, mission requirements, and tactical objectives
-Support aircrew operations during complex multi-day exercises involving U.S. and partner nation forces.
-Coordinate aircraft-specific data collection requirements and ensure proper mission data extraction procedures.
-Conduct post-mission analysis of aircraft performance data and operational effectiveness.
Technical Equipment Installation & Maintenance
-Coordinate the assembly, installation, interfacing, removal, and system restoration of specialized tracking equipment used during exercises.
-Interpret technical schematics and resolve complex issues associated with equipment installation, removal, interfacing, repair, modification, and testing.
-Ensure proper restoration and operation of pertinent shipboard equipment following removal of tracking equipment.
-Conduct repair and testing of tracking equipment to maintain operational readiness throughout exercise periods.
-Interface with ship systems and aircraft platforms to ensure seamless equipment integration
Aviation Systems Performance Assessment
-Assess the performance of airborne detection systems based on exercise data and operational parameters.
-Use pertinent collected data to reconstruct detailed aircraft engagements and tactical scenarios during exercises.
-Evaluate airborne sensor effectiveness, aircraft tactical employment, and integration with surface and subsurface platforms.
-Analyze aircraft mission data to support overall exercise reconstruction and tactical development objectives.
-Support validation of aviation-related tactics, techniques, and procedures through systematic performance analysis
Technical Reporting & Communication
-Prepare technically accurate briefings, reports, and correspondence documenting aircraft performance and technical findings.
-Author aircraft-specific sections of exercise analysis reports, including performance assessments and technical recommendations.
-Communicate aircraft operations results and technical findings to naval commands, engineering laboratories, and program offices.
-Support Cross-REM analysis efforts focusing on aviation platform performance across multiple exercise datasets.
-Document technical procedures and lessons learned for equipment installation and maintenance operations.
Exercise Planning & Shore-Based Support
-Support exercise planning activities involving Navy fixed and rotary wing aircraft operations.
-Provide qualified personnel support at key shore-based locations, including air bases supporting land-based aircraft.
-Monitor exercise execution activities at range facilities and aircraft operating locations on a non-interfering basis.
-Coordinate aircraft participation requirements and technical support needs during exercise planning conferences.
-Ensure aircraft data collection requirements are properly integrated into overall exercise objectives.
Experience:
-10+ years of Navy experience relating to Undersea Warfare (USW) aircraft operations and warfare tasks
-3+ years of experience planning exercise activities, including Navy fixed and rotary wing aircraft
-Experience in briefing and debriefing aircrews on exercise event plans and mission results
-Experience in Navy aircraft data collection, mission data extraction, and post-mission analysis
Required Competencies:
-Demonstrated capability for preparation of technically correct briefings, reports, and correspondence
-Proven technical skills in equipment installation, maintenance, and system integration
-Ability to interpret complex technical schematics and resolve equipment-related technical issues
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for aircraft performance assessment
-Ability to act independently while working effectively in cohesive collaborative team environments
-Exceptional written and communication skills for interaction with aircrew, technical personnel, and program offices

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS
-Security Clearance: Active SECRET clearance required
-Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
-Background Check: Must pass NCIS background investigation
-CAC Requirements: Must obtain and maintain a Government Common Access Card
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
-Ability to work in aircraft maintenance hangars, flight lines, and various aviation facilities
-Capability to embark and disembark naval vessels using small boats, helicopters, or Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) aircraft
-Physical ability to install, maintain, and repair technical equipment in confined aircraft and shipboard spaces
-Ability to lift and handle technical equipment, tools, and components up to 50 pounds
-Capability to work at heights and in various weather conditions during aircraft operations
-Travel internationally and work extended hours during exercise periods and aircraft operations.
Travel Requirements:
Periodic international travel is required to support aircraft operations during exercises in forward-deployed areas.
