Position Summary:
The employee is responsible for performing routine maintenance & minor inspections on piston engines and Cirrus Aircraft. Troubleshooting, repair, and modification of aircraft components and engines.
Inspects engine parts upon removal in accordance with appropriate maintenance manuals and/or approved data, utilizing precise measurement throughout reassembly processes.
The Technician is responsible for using sound judgment and technical aptitude to make decisions regarding maintenance, sequence, and techniques, troubleshooting and discrepancy resolution.
Carefully document all engine and aircraft discrepancies, troubleshooting, repair work, and corrective actions in appropriate inspection paperwork.
Customers are frequently present in the hangar facilities. Consequently, professionalism, appearance, and customer-focused communication skills are required in order to create a positive and lasting professional relationship.
Position Requirements:
- Hold a valid FAA approved Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License (Inspection Authorization or eligibility preferred)
- 1 year Cirrus maintenance experience within the last 5 years (preferred)
- SR2X Maintenance Course Certificate (preferred)
- Professional Aviation training in the form of military experience, aeronautical academy, technical school training or an Associate's Degree is preferred. Experience with piston engine overhaul, removal, and installation. Specifically: TCM IO 360, 550 and TSIO 550series.
- Experience with Garmin Avionics and LRUs.
- Must have experience using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Analytical skills required to perform complex troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills required, both verbal and written.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, intranet, and internet applications.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, walk, bend, stretch, and climb ladders.
- Be able to think clearly, speak intelligibly on the telephone and in person.
- Able to manipulate equipment of all sizes, tools, computer keyboards, and telephones.
- Must be able to see in order to disassemble and visually inspect.
- Must be able to hear in order to detect the sources of problems.
- Good interpersonal and verbal skills in order to work with team members efficiently and effectively.
- Often work outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
- Often work under pressure to maintain airline flight schedules.
- Must be part of a Cirrus-mandated Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
