Job Description - Airport Box Truck Driver with Tarmac Experience


Courier Connection is seeking dynamic, dependable, and motivated individuals to join our team at the Atlanta International Airport – Domestic Terminal in Atlanta, GA !
As a driver you will accomplish all activities in line with customers guidelines while adhering to safety regulations.
Drivers will work and abide by all safety protocols and procedures established by Courier Connection and the Atlanta airport.
Drivers will perform all essential functions listed below but will not be limited to them. Operational needs will determine what tasks and functions need to be completed on any given day.

Shift: Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday -Saturday
  • 10 hour shift
  • 4days on 3 days off.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Loading and unloading of all equipment on trucks
  • Fill pre-trip and post-trip inspection book & perform mandatory safety checks of the vehicle for each shift
  • Ensure loading the products into vehicles according to plan
  • Ensure on-time delivery of all items for each location as outlined in the manifest, in a safe, responsible manner and in compliance with all state laws and transportation regulations.
  • Ensure compliance of loading according to the procedures in place
  • Secure all products before delivery to the specified location
  • Install protective devices: such as bracing, padding, strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported
  • Observe the proper use of equipment
  • Proper utilization and compliance with all relative technology provided to complete daily job functions
  • Follow all procedure for health, safety and security
  • Maintain clean working area, maintain clean loading docks, maintain clean equipment
  • Ensure cleaning of the vehicle and the area around the dock after each shift
  • Implementation of all current and new operation procedures
  • Communicate by phone to supervisors and dispatchers to provide updates/issues on current location
  • Communication to leadership if a safety risk is presented
  • Understanding and awareness of a rapidly changing work environment
  • Perform other duties assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
  • TSA Background Check Required
  • All candidates must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have experience driving on the tarmac.
  • Must have valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Must have an active DOT physical card
  • Must have or be able to acquire a DOT Medical Card
  • Prior experience with TSA credentialing is a plus
  • Ability to pass all required airport security clearance
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English
  • Understanding and ability to use and manage technological devices
  • Be diligent, punctual, and reliable
  • Ability to adapt to new operating procedures
  • Awareness to safety risks
  • Ability to communicate issues and knowledge gaps
  • Ability to handle pressure and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends (depending on assigned shift) and work overtime when required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience on US airport tarmac strongly recommended
  • Understand the rules of hygiene, safety and security
  • Authorization to work in the USA for any employer
  • Physical ability to lift, unload, and move up to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 90 lbs.
  • Physical ability to operate a pallet jack on and off docks as well as lift gate, moving material up to 2000 lbs.
  • Physical ability to operate hand-truck safely to move product weighing up to 200 lbs. for distances up to 100 ft.
  • Physical ability to maneuver loaded hand carts over a variety of inclines and surfaces.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk frequently and be able to drive for a significant period of time.
  • Physical ability to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl.
  • Exposure to a variety of environmental conditions: weather, temperature, lighting, and noise as determined by circumstances at accounts within assigned territory.
