An AIRPORT MANAGER is responsible for performing a combination of the following essential job functions:
Plans, directs, assigns, and evaluates the work of personnel engaged in aircraft fueling, airport maintenance, and crash rescue response to airport emergencies.
Administers operational policies and standards with respect to lessees of airport buildings, hangars and tie downs; resolves disputes and authorizes exceptions to standard operating policies or procedures to meet emergency or other special conditions.
Inspects runways, taxiways, ramps, fences, structures, lighting system, and beacons to evaluate state of repair and allocates personnel and equipment resources to meet operational and maintenance standards.
Develops and reviews individual airport policies and safety procedures for operations such as fuel sales and takes or directs corrective action as necessary.
Directs the preparation of the airport budget and allocates funds to accomplish airport objectives.
Represents the department at meetings of pilot groups, local political bodies, and civic groups regarding airport operational policies.
Serves as liaison with headquarters of the Aviation Division and coordinates establishment of priorities for equipment repair by the department's fleet management group.
Directs and participates, as needed, in the preparation of specifications and requests for supplies and materials.
Uses automated systems for input and retrieval of data on airport supplies, fuel sales, and account information.
Drives an assigned County or personal vehicle to respond to airport emergencies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Two years' experience assisting in the management of a general aviation airport.
Up to one year's experience performing management staff functions* in support of an aviation division may be substituted for the required experience.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE MUST BE FULLY MET BY THE LAST DAY OF FILING.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college with specialization in aviation or airport management, business, public administration or civil engineering; management of a publicly owned airport with experience in governmental fiscal and administrative practices; current private pilot's certificate issued by the Federal Aviation Administration.
LICENSE
A valid California Class C Driver License is required to perform job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS
