ALCS Industrial Arts Teacher (SY 26-27)

The position of Industrial Arts Teacher is designed for a passionate and skilled educator dedicated to fostering creativity, problem-solving, and technical competence in students. An Industrial Arts Teacher will have the unique opportunity to impart essential skills in woodworking, metalworking, drafting, and other technical crafts. Your role is essential in preparing students for careers in the trades, engineering, design, and technology, providing them with hands-on experience and practical knowledge that extends beyond the classroom. Whether you are a seasoned educator or a professional from the industry looking to transition into teaching, this exciting opportunity is designed to inspire the next generation of skilled professionals and innovators.

Required Education:

• Have obtained a Bachelor’s degree


• Preference is given to candidates with state-level teacher certification

Required Spiritual Qualifications

All faculty and staff shall:

• Have received Jesus Christ as his/her Savior


• Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living


• Be in agreement with school’s Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education


• Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others. This includes being committed to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct.  Luke 6:40


• Be a member in good standing at a local church that has a Statement of Faith in significant agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith


• Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ


• Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go”

Other Required Qualifications

All faculty shall:

• Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and be prepared to assist them in that task


• Place his/her teaching ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities


• Demonstrate a love of children and heart to serve others


• Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance


• Respectfully submit and be loyal to authority


• Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately


• Avoid gossip and practice Biblical conflict resolution (Matthew 18)


• Experience working in a trade or technical field


• Previous teaching or training experience


• Advanced degrees or certifications in education or a related field


• Familiarity with educational software and technology


• Strong organizational and time-management skills


• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities


• Proven ability to manage classroom behavior effectively


• Commitment to continuous professional development


• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts Education or a related field


• Proficiency in using and teaching various tools and machinery


• Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures


• Ability to develop and implement effective lesson plans


• Patience and dedication to student success


• Strong problem-solving skills and creativity


• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and other staff members


• Osha 30 certification (for construction trades)

Essential Job Functions

Industrial Arts Teachers shall:

• Develop and implement lesson plans that meet curriculum guidelines and educational standards


• Teach students how to safely and effectively use various tools and machinery


• Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and exams


• Maintain classroom equipment and ensure a safe learning environment


• Provide individualized instruction and support to help students master complex concepts


• Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to integrate industrial arts education 


• Stay current with industry trends and advancements to provide relevant and up-to-date instruction


• Organize and supervise hands-on projects and practical exercises


• Encourage creativity and innovation in students’ work


• Prepare students for careers in technical and trade-related fields through skills training and career guidance


• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive educational environment


• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavior
