Position Overview:
Alexandria's House Support Staff play a vital role in providing a holistic, individualized approach to meet the unique needs of young mothers and their children. This position is centered on helping young mothers develop the skills necessary to achieve self-sufficiency—through guidance in parenting, household responsibilities, and other essential independent living skills.
Support Staff build meaningful, supportive relationships with residents, offering encouragement and coaching through everyday challenges. Using principles of positive youth development, staff help create a safe, nurturing environment where young families can grow and thrive. This role also includes responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of the facility.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is an on-call position, offering a great opportunity for those looking for flexibility, supplemental income, or experience in social services. Shifts are available across a variety of times including day shift (9a-4p), swing shift (4p-9p), and night shift (9p-9a)
Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll actively support residents with daily routines by assisting with meal preparation and clean-up, guiding them through household chores, and following the House Maintenance Plan and shift checklists to ensure a clean and well-maintained living environment. You’ll work alongside residents to help them complete their responsibilities while also monitoring their participation in day-to-day tasks and activities. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to plan and take part in special events and recreational activities, creating moments of connection and community. Throughout your shift, you’ll also help meet program goals by documenting billable services in alignment with program requirements
Required Education and Experience:
· High School Diploma or GED/HSEC
· One (1) year of experience working directly with children OR two (2) years of education.
Required Licensing and Certifications (may obtain at no cost within 6 months of hire):
· CPR/First Aid Certification
· Bloodborne Pathogens Training
· Food Handler Permit
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
· Must obtain a TB test before employment can begin or produce results of a negative TB test administered no earlier than 8 months prior to the hire date. (May obtain at no cost upon hire.)
· Must obtain Tdap (adult Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) and Influenza vaccinations before employment can begin or produce evidence of the above vaccinations being current. (May obtain at no cost upon hire. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with allergic reactions to the above vaccinations.)
· Must be able to pass the following Background Checks: Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) background check
· Must be at least 21 years of age according to program requirements
