Gustavo Preston Company, founded in 1881, has been providing engineered fluid handling equipment solutions to Boston and the greater New England area for over 140 years. As one of the nation’s oldest commercial pump repair and sales agencies we continue to grow, develop, and expand our facilities. This allows us to provide high quality, technically engineered equipment that is supported by our outstanding technical sales and premium service and support.

As of April 2023, Gustavo Preston Company has joined HydroServe LLC owned by WILO USA, a multinational technology group and one of the world’s leading premium suppliers of pumps and pump systems for building services, water management and industrial sector. HydroServe will focus on operating and distributing a wide range of engineered products for the building trades and wastewater markets for commercial pump solutions, including motor repair and rain water harvesting. 

  

The Position: Sales Representative

The Sales Representative position focuses on developing deeper business relationships with existing customers, expanding those accounts, and developing new customer accounts. The products and services the Sales Representative is selling includes on-site and off-site repair work, equipment & system upgrades, equipment & system retrofits, and preventative maintenance service contracts for the installed base of all water and wastewater pumping systems and equipment found in mechanical rooms and on property in the end user commercial building marketplace. Existing customers and potential new customers are described as commercial building facility engineers, all levels of maintenance personnel, property managers, building owners and their plumbing sub-contractors.

The Sales Representative is expected to actively contact and visit existing customer accounts and potential new accounts every week and as much as possible. They shall research and seek out new projects and gather enough information so the inside sales application staff can price the equipment and labor. The Sales Representative is responsible for working with the inside sales staff and for closing the sales.

The Sales Representative must enjoy being social with customers and vendors, willing to initiate outings, dinners, factory trips etc. The Sales Representative’s goal is to be viewed as a teacher, an expert, resource of information, unofficial business partner, and friend to our customers.

The Sales Representative is responsible for selling the following services and systems:

· Preventive maintenance contracts

· Repairs, replacements, and upgrades from PM inspections

· Project management / turnkey equipment

· Energy audits and upgrades

· Rebate processing

· Monitoring programs

· Emergency repair services

· Startups & training

· Water booster systems

· Ejector pump systems

· Water Heaters

· PRV stations

· VFD & control panels

· Pump monitoring equipment

Qualifications:

· College degree desirable; equivalent experience may be considered.

· Minimum of three years sales experience required.

· Knowledge of pumping equipment and systems is a plus.

· Personable, sales and goal orientated.

· Well-organized, diligent, and self-motivated.

· Experience handling rejection.

· Ability to work cooperatively with an internal sales support team.

· Experience building relationships with both customers and vendors and cultivate them daily.

· Understands the art of negotiation and compromise.
