Job Description - Amada Fiber Laser Operator

Reports to Operations Team
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented AMADA Fiber Laser Operator to join our fabrication team. The operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining AMADA fiber laser cutting machines to produce precision metal components according to specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of metal materials, machine operation, and quality control.

Job Responsibilities:

Operate AMADA fiber laser cutting machines to cut a variety of metals including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders to determine machine settings and material requirements.
Set up and calibrate machines, including adjusting feed rate, laser power, and gas flow.
Load and unload sheet metal and parts using material handling equipment or manually.
Monitor machine operations and adjust as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
Inspect finished parts for conformance to specifications using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety standards.
Accurately complete production and quality documentation.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or trade school preferred).
1–3 years of experience operating AMADA fiber lasers or similar CNC laser cutting equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Familiarity with AMADA software (e.g., AMNC 3i, VPSS 3i) is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Basic math and computer skills.
Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with material nesting software (e.g., Lantek, SigmaNEST).
Knowledge of sheet metal properties and fabrication processes.
Forklift or crane operation certification is a plus.
Lean manufacturing or 5S experience.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Repetitive work.
Walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping.
Several large, loud machines operating at once.
Non-air-conditioned shop, temperature conditions like the outdoors, proper ventilation exists.
