Toddler Guide – Childpeace Montessori School
Location: Portland, OR
Schedule: Weekdays, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend commitments

About the Role
Childpeace Montessori School is seeking an experienced AMI-trained Toddler Guide to open a classroom of approximately 12 toddlers, supported by two Classroom Assistants. This role is part of our Toddler Community Program which includes three Toddler Communities, an Aftercare Program, and an Early Childhood Program Director.

The Toddler Guide will create and maintain a nurturing, developmentally appropriate Montessori environment that fosters independence, respect, and joy in learning for children ages 12 months to three years according to standards set forth by the Association Montessori Internationale.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and present the complete AMI Assistants to Infancy Montessori curriculum for children from birth to age three.
  
  


• Prepare lesson plans, deliver presentations, observe and track each child’s development, and maintain accurate records.
  
  


• Support the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth of each child.
  
  


• Prepare and maintain an AMI-standard Montessori environment, ensuring order, beauty, and functionality.
  
  


• Model care for the environment and guide children in maintaining it.
  
  


• Oversee classroom relationships between children and adults, among adults, and set age-appropriate behavioral standards for the children.
  
  


• Model and teach self-expression, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
  
  


• Supervise, train, and communicate regularly with Classroom Assistants.
  
  


• Identify and address learning challenges using inclusive, research-based practices.
  
  


• Maintain confidentiality and prepare children for smooth transitions to the Children’s House.
  
  


• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Program Director or Head of School.
  
  

Qualifications

• AMI Diploma for Assistants to Infancy (required)
  
  


• Bachelor’s degree (required) or higher; Child Development Associate considered
  
  


• Experience with children ages 1 to 3 years (preferred)
  
  


• Knowledge of the developmental needs and tendencies of children ages 12 months to three years
  
  


• Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
  
  


• Commitment to professional teamwork and building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  
  

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in the Oregon Office of Child Care’s Central Background Registry (CBR) prior to hire.
