Job Overview

Standby Personnel is seeking an experienced Ammonia Tech to monitor, maintain, and repair ammonia refrigeration systems and plant equipment. This Ammonia Tech role is ideal for a technician with strong refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting skills. The Ammonia Tech position plays a critical role in plant safety, system performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Do

The Ammonia Tech role includes the following duties:

• Monitor and maintain ammonia and refrigeration systems

• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on freezers and equipment

• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration components

• Document system readings and maintenance activities

• Repair leaks (water, hydraulic, ammonia, nitrogen)

• Follow GMPs, safety standards, and PPE requirements

• Support continuous improvement and plant safety initiatives

Requirements

• 3–5+ years industrial refrigeration experience

• Ability to obtain or currently hold R.E.T.A. Certification

• Strong understanding of Process Safety Management

• Electrical knowledge: 480/320v 3ph & 120v

• Skilled with automation controls, testing equipment, and troubleshooting

• Ability to work in hot, cold, and loud environments

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
