Position Summary

AlpInvest Partners seeks to hire an Analyst with a focus on primary fund investments in Asia. The Analyst is a two-year program (with optional 6 months extension) . Located in our Hong Kong office and reporting to the Principal of Primary Fund Investments in Hong Kong, the Analyst is expected to play a key role in providing support in investment functions including GP market mapping and sourcing, fund and portfolio company analysis, preparation of investment recommendations, as well as various client reports and projects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Applying critical thinking and judgement in the review of PE investment opportunities
• Developing relationships with GPs through direct outreach and intermediaries, and systematically track their fundraising plans, organization/strategy developments and performance
• Supporting the senior members in the execution of transactions, including the preparation of various fund-level and portfolio company level analyses and investment memos
• Monitoring of investee portfolio funds through interactions with GPs, and review of financial information
• Preparing periodic updates and conducting analyses and support work in developing relationships with existing clients and prospects
• Collaborating with global colleagues on various ad hoc projects

Qualifications

Education & Certificates

• Bachelor's Degree in a business-related discipline (accounting, economics, etc.), with above average results

Professional Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in private equity (preferred), investment banking, or management consulting (a focus on private equity would be prioritized)

Competencies & Attributes

• Excellent written and spoken English is required

• Knowledge of an additional Asian language is considered an advantage

• Proficiency in Excel, Word & PowerPoint, and savvy with technology

• Strong research and analytical skills as well as superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills

• Familiarity with basic financial modeling, valuation methodologies and accounting principles

• Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, including senior management
