Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV), the university's technology commercialization division, is launching the JHTV Analyst Program, a structured two-year experiential learning opportunity designed for recent graduates interested in innovation, entrepreneurship, healthcare, science, business, law, technology, and public impact.


We are seeking an Analyst, Ventures & Capital Strategy who will contribute to high-priority strategic initiatives while gaining broad exposure to technology commercialization, startup formation, intellectual property, corporate engagement, venture funding, and innovation management. Through cohort-based learning, professional development programming, executive exposure, cross-functional projects, and mentorship, analysts develop the analytical, communication, and leadership skills that prepare them for graduate study or future careers across the innovation economy.


At the end of the two-year term, Analysts may be considered for open positions within JHTV or the university; however, continuation of employment beyond the term is not guaranteed.


The Analyst, Ventures & Capital Strategy will support startup portfolio management, translational funding programs, investor engagement activities, and strategic analysis. Through these efforts, the analyst will gain hands-on exposure to the capital, resources, and commercialization processes that help move Johns Hopkins innovations toward the market. This role provides experience within startup portfolio management and the broader technology commercialization ecosystem.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to support strategic initiatives and organizational priorities.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and synthesize information from multiple sources to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and recommendations.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, presentations, briefing materials, and executive summaries for operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Support projects involving faculty, university leaders, external partners, and other stakeholders by conducting research, analysis, and developing recommendations.
  • Translate complex information into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Support business process improvement initiatives and recommend enhancements to tools, systems, workflows, and reporting practices.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, trackers, and project materials.
  • Build productive relationships across JHTV and the broader university community.
  • Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Participate in cohort-based onboarding, professional development programming, mentorship opportunities, and cross-functional learning experiences.
  • Contribute to a capstone project and final presentation addressing a strategic opportunity or challenge within JHTV.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.


In addition to duties described above

  • Conduct market, technical, competitive, and commercial research on emerging technologies.
  • Prepare analyses and presentation materials for interactions with venture capital firms and other external partners.
  • Support the management and analysis of a portfolio of more than 140 startup companies.
  • Develop data-driven insights to inform commercialization strategy and funding decisions.
  • Work closely with faculty innovators, investors, and commercialization professionals.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • No prior professional experience required.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident required due to Federal Export Controls.
  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Interest in venture capital, startups, or life sciences/technology commercialization.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Comfort engaging with external partners and investors.
  • Full-time, in-person role based in Baltimore, MD.
  • Fast-paced environment with variable hours; not a fixed 9-to-5 schedule.
