Job Description - Analytical Lab Hardware Manager

General Profile: Manage the day-to-day service and maintenance of FIB, TEM, SEM and other supporting equipment and provide direct supervision to technicians, engineers and individual contributors (jobs that could be on the C, O, T or B/E band). Requires in-depth knowledge and experience in metrology equipment, electro-mechanical, optical and chemical delivery systems and the supporting equipment such as coater, chiller, and pumps. \n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nHire, train and develop a team of technicians to perform tool installation, preventative maintenance, as well as any necessary troubleshooting and repair, and manage consumables of metrology tools and supporting equipment. \n\nActively participate in tool installation planning with Safety and Design teams and OEM vendors. Solve issues, or work with cross functional teams to address any install and logistics issues identified. \n\nOwn tool uptime, PM schedule and service contracts for metrology tool platforms\n\nTrack and report operational key results (OKR) such as tool health, tool availability, MTBF, and MTTR\n\nMaintain SOPs of preventive maintenance, training records and safety documentation for hardware team\n\nProcure and manage consumable inventory.\n\nCreate fishbone diagram of tool failures and SPC charts of tool stability\n\nDrive continuous service improvement and escalation with OEM supplier\n\nUnderstand SEMI standards and cleanroom protocols\n\nFunctional Knowledge\n\n * Works on issues where analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors\n * Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits\n\n\n\nBusiness Expertise\n\n * Develop and execute objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals.\n * Recommends improvement plan and changes on operation efficiency.\n\n\n\nLeadership\n\n * Provides direction to direct reports according to policies and management guidance.\n * Administers company policies that directly affect direct reports.\n\n\n\nProblem Solving\n\n * Ability to prioritize competing requests in a fast-paced environment\n * Strong problem-solving skills in solving technical, quality or process related problems.\n * Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.\n\n\n\nImpact\n\n * Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will impact business unit\u2019s development cycle.\n\n\n\nInterpersonal Skills\n\n * Strong cross-function communication skills with process engineers\n * Strong communication skills with direct report, peers and management\n * Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or schedules.\n\n\n\nApplied Materials\n\n * Always Understand and comply with the Applied Materials Global Standards of Business.
