Anesthesiologist

An excellent opportunity exists to work for a government contractor with competitive compensation and work-life balance. Posterity Group is seeking experienced Anesthesiologist for the Harry S, Truman VAMC in Columbia, MO. 

 The Anesthesiologist will be responsible for the performance and supervision of perioperative anesthetic care to patients, including preoperative anesthetic administration and monitoring, and post-anesthesia care in compliance with national accreditation standards. Other responsibilities include the management of problems in pain relief, management of problems in cardiac and respiratory function, and provision of airway management in emergency situations. The Anesthesiologist is responsible for seeing patients in consultation in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Other duties include responding to patient telephone calls, informing patients of test/lab results, and giving telephone or e-mail advice to other providers.

A full range of clinical Anesthesia capabilities is expected in addition to the following administrative responsibilities: participate in the development and implementation of program planning, objectives, policies, and standards essential to the delivery of quality Anesthetic care. He/she must meet Anesthesia-related documentation requirements set forth by the Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies, 

 Additional Required Experience:  

• Assessment of, consultation for, and preparation of patients for anesthesia including permeance of history and physical exams  
• Medical management of patients during peri-operative period who are under physical and emotional distress  
• Management of post anesthetic recovery including procedural pain  
• Supervise and administer general anesthesia  
• Supervise and administer regional anesthesia  
• Anesthesia for cardiac operations utilizing cardiopulmonary bypass  
• Ventilator management 
• Metabolic/hemodynamic management 
• Monitored anesthesia care MAC  
• Moderate sedation  
• NORAM 
• Diagnostic therapeutic blocks  
• Intraoperative TEE 
• Non-invasive cardiovascular evaluation, including electrocardiography  

•  Shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property. 
•  Shall be Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)  
• BLS and or ACLS
• at least 5 years of relevant experience
