Job Description - Application Engineering Manager - UPS and Power Systems
Lead the Critical Power Project Application Engineering team managing the workload and distribution of requests for proposals, specification responses, technical support for the sales team, and order reviews. Develop and train Application Engineers (AE) specifically to support the functions for the Critical Power Project team within Project Services. Interpret project specifications and provide a detailed specification response, including assisting Sales with technical proposals/bid packages. Create proposals and cost worksheets to be reviewed for all projects. Be a liaison for the Critical Power Project business to Customers, UPS Plants/Product Lines, Sales Teams, Project Managers, and support groups. Support for custom UPS-centric project requirements and pricing. Review proposals for correct BOM, technical accuracy, and pricing accuracy. Review orders upon receipt to ensure accuracy Interface with Project Execution team for equipment applications and order summary information Provide technical assistance throughout project execution & interface with the plant and global services as necessary Prepare and review UPS electronic submittals for customer orders as necessary Determine pricing strategy on all proposals, driving incremental growth of Critical Power Project business while maintaining profitability goals. Serve as account manager for several key accounts, including the PCCIE contract, owning account success, issues, and communication. Assist program with strategic initiatives and pipeline growth, to the tune of $300M in pipeline per year. Own agent engagement process, ensuring alignment with other divisions and managing timely commission payouts for agents. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Business with Engineering/Technical Experience and a minimum of 7 years hands-on experience in electrical distribution / UPS service and/or proposal generation experience specifically related to maintaining and modernizing electrical power distribution systems 7 years minimum electrical industry related application engineering and proposal development experience with additional experience in electrical power systems and/or industrial and utility substation construction. Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver's license Must be located in the United States, relocation is not offered. Proficient in MS Office Suite Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Experience with government proposal procedures such as technical and price proposal separation, FARS, reps and certifications, and government evaluation factors. Experience in writing and reviewing subcontractor work scopes and Subcontractor agreements; preferred experience with GSA purchasing procedures and/or Army Corp of Engineering procedures; being able to evaluate proposals for specification compliance; experience with risk evaluation and risk management. Estimating experience in electrical system installations. Ability to travel within the US and outside of the US without restrictions Ability to gain access to military and government sites. Ability to manage projects and a project team.
