Job Description - Applications Support

As a Production Support Engineer in Application Support, you will use your creative and critical thinking skills to maintain crucial application systems and collaborate with teams on various projects. You will gain exposure to software development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and improvement while developing professionally and growing your career in any direction you choose

Job responsibilities

Manage day to day issues including daily health checks of applications and processes, working closely with end users, development staff and Infrastructure teams, to prioritize and resolve and/or mitigate outages.
Monitor production activities/processes to ensure timely and effective reporting, tracking, follow-up and communication of problems to internal and external clients, technical resources, and executives.
Ensures information controls, back-up and recovery strategies are in place across all environments.
Implement continuous process improvement, including but not limited to policy, procedures, and production monitoring.
Help in identifying, coordinating, and implementing initiatives/projects and activities that create efficiencies and optimize technical processing.
Develop and maintain relationships with technical staff, end users and clients.
Carefully evaluate alternative risks and solutions before taking action to provide timely resolution.
Data analysis of issues and reporting to Production support and Development leadership.
Working knowledge in one or more general purpose programming languages, plus an interest in learning other coding languages and skills as needed.
Working knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Ability to influence and drive change.
3+ years of hands-on experience in Production Support/Engineering or Application Development roles, including experinece in Mainframe technology (Cobol, JCL, mainview, File-aid, CICS, ca-view)
Strong analytical & trouble shooting skills required.
Experience in Disaster Recovery planning and test execution.
Knowledge of Splunk, Datadog, and Dynatrace.
Experience with databases such as DB2, Oracle, Cassandra, or Cockroach
Experience in a client facing role (external or internal).
Strong knowledge of applicable business areas, the supporting technology.
Basic knowledge of application development.
Ability to work on call as needed (typically 1x per month. weekends may be included)
Preferred qualifications, capability, and skills: Experience in Cloud support, Java, .Net, C#, Python, or similar programing anguages.
Experience with cloud-based applications, technologies and tools, deployment, monitoring and operations, such as AWS, Kubernetes, Splunk, DynaTrace, Elasticsearch, Grafana, Kibana, etc.
Experience with messaging services such as MQ, Kafka
Experience supporting mission-critical platforms/applications in financial services industry
