Lead Java Developer
Remote Position
12+Month Contract

The Lead Developer on the Custom Tools team will lead development work on two new web applications that will be used daily by the store population to manage payroll hours and to schedule store leaders. The Lead Developer will oversee the development work of approximately four developers (two in the USA, two in India) as well as spend time developing code themselves. The role will work closely with the functional workstream lead to ensure the tools meet the needs of the business and work with data architects to design a solution that achieves optimal performance.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees a small team of developers for approximately 50% of their time and developing code for approximately 50% of their time. The team includes developers in both the USA and India.
• Design and develop two new web applications in Java, React JS, and Spring Boot.
• Will work with the team to architect and design the tools for optimal solutions/performance.
• Establish coding standards, process for code reviews, code repository, unit testing plan using automation.
• Monitors project progress and adjusts tactics to improve progress.
• Reviews all artifacts for quality and on-time delivery.
• Run/attend daily morning standups with India and USA team.
• Ability to demonstrate the newly developed web applications to the customer/business partner.
• Responsible for all the sprint deliverables.
• Works closely with the functional lead to design and implement desired functionality according to business requirements.
• Ensures all design deliverables conform with agreed upon specifications to meet business goals, including assisting with end-to-end testing and support of deployment to production.

Requirements:

• Design new applications using Java 11, JavaScript, Eclipse, IntelliJ, or Spring Tools Suite.
• Proficiency in Spring Boot, React JS, Hibernate, and building RESTful web services.
• Experience with Oracle, Snowflake databases, and CI/CD tools like GIT, ANT, Maven, and Jira.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with technical teams.
• Understanding of agile principles and methodology for delivery.
• Senior-level experience using the tools listed above.
• Demonstrated ability to architect, design, and build web applications from scratch is a plus.
