Job Description
This position performs advanced professional and technical work in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) within the Office of the State Courts Administrator, supporting enterprise application database environments. The role emphasizes database backup, recovery, and Continuity of Operations (COOP) to ensure the availability, integrity, and resilience of critical systems.
The incumbent is responsible for administering, monitoring, and maintaining database systems, with a primary focus on Microsoft SQL Server and associated cloud services, including Azure SQL.
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Install, configure, patch, and maintain SQL Server database environments
· Monitor database system availability, performance, storage capacity, jobs, and logs; perform troubleshooting
· Develop, implement, and maintain database backup and recovery procedures, including regular validation and restoration testing
· Support and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, log shipping, and replication
· Administer and optimize Azure SQL environments, including configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, security, and cost management
· Develop, review, and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies
· Analyze execution plans and perform database performance tuning using tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
· Manage database security, including user roles, permissions, access controls, and auditing practices
· Implement basic encryption concepts and support compliance with applicable security standards
· Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell) for job scheduling, monitoring, and log management
Note: After completing the required training, this position may be eligible for up to two telework days per week in accordance with the Office of the State Courts Administrator policy.
Education and Training Guidelines

Bachelor’s degree in business management, information technology, management information systems, computer science, engineering, or a closely related field.
Experience
Refers to the amount of related work experience that is recommended for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the required tasks. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis, excluding supervisory experience.
Five years of related work experience, including extensive knowledge and experience with relational databases.
