Applied AI Engineer

Zafran is looking for an Applied AI Engineer to join our Business Operations team.

In this role, you will be the internal builder who turns operational friction into working software. You will work directly with business teams — Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Support, Finance, and HR to identify where AI can make a meaningful difference, then design and ship the solutions that make it happen.

Claude is our primary AI platform used across the company via claude.ai, the Anthropic API, and integrated into our automation workflows. A core part of this role is going deep on Claude: designing system prompts, building Claude-powered automations, developing reusable skills and artifacts that scale horizontally across teams, and using Claude Code to accelerate delivery.

This role is ideal for someone deeply fluent in working with LLMs who is as comfortable in a stakeholder conversation as they are in a code editor, and who measures success by whether things actually work better, not by the elegance of the implementation.

You will have real ownership: decide what to work on, build it end-to-end, ship it to production, and see whether it moved the needle.

What you will do:

Build & Engineer

• Take end-to-end responsibility for what you build — from architecture decisions through production deployment, rollout, and scale-up
• Design and implement Claude-powered solutions: system prompts, RAG pipelines, AI agents, multi-step automations, and tool-integrated workflows
• Build reusable Claude skills and artifacts that can scale horizontally across teams and use cases
• Use Claude Code to accelerate development and maintain high output quality
• Pick the right tool for the job — code, no-code, or LLM-native — and keep systems documented and maintainable
• Integrate solutions with Zafran's existing stack: Salesforce, Zendesk, Workato, Slack, and Google Workspace
• Build for production: reliable, observable, and maintainable by non-engineering stakeholders

Embed With the Business

• Work directly with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Support, Finance, and HR to identify and scope high-leverage AI opportunities
• Translate ambiguous business needs into concrete engineering plans; own both the solution definition and the build
• Identify patterns, recurring pain points, and improvement opportunities — then build something that fixes them
• Help business stakeholders develop AI fluency and become stronger partners over time

Drive Internal AI Strategy

• Help shape and execute Zafran's internal AI roadmap, prioritizing initiatives with measurable operational impact
• Own the development of reusable, horizontal AI capabilities that raise the bar for the whole company — not just one team
• Stay up to date with the Claude platform and broader AI tooling landscape; bring relevant innovations in-house quickly
• Document what you build and why, creating institutional knowledge that scales beyond you

• 4–6+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering with a track record of shipping production systems
• Strong Python skills and proven experience building AI-powered applications in production
• Hands-on experience designing system prompts, building multi-step AI workflows, and working with the Anthropic API or equivalent
• Proficiency in SQL for data investigation, reporting, and workflow automation
• Experience integrating with business systems such as Salesforce, Zendesk, Slack, or similar platforms
• Strong problem-solving skills, sense of ownership, and communication skills — with the ability to work well across technical and non-technical teams
• Mentality of a team player, with the capability to see the big picture and use it to focus on critical detail
• Capability and willingness to take responsibility and have a deep influence

Experience with the Following is a Plus

• Direct hands-on experience with Claude — claude.ai, the API, Claude Code, or building Claude-native workflows
• Hands-on experience with Workato, n8n, or similar automation platforms
• Experience building and deploying reusable AI skills or prompt libraries for cross-team use
• Basic cloud familiarity — AWS or equivalent
• Background in solutions engineering, technical consulting, or product management
• Experience working in a fast-growing B2B SaaS or cybersecurity company
