The Overhead Door Company of Yakima, a division of Authority Dock and Door, has been the market leader in residential and commercial garage doors, high-speed doors, and large commercial doors in the Yakima area since 1967.

As the Apprentice Door Technician, you would come onboard and support the Lead Door Technician on jobs serving our customers’ needs for residential garage doors and commercial garage doors. This would include the installation, service, and maintenance of overhead doors. You would bring your motivation to learn, your mechanical aptitude, and excellent customer service skills to aid in job completion. We will provide a supportive work environment, with a career path to move up to Junior and even lead tech positions. We value respect, hard work, and enjoyment of a job and service well done.

 This is a full time position with hours of operation Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm, $18.00 - $19.00 per hour; medical benefits, and retirement plan offered. Successful completion of substance test and a background check are mandatory. 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with Installation of various types of commercial overhead and residential garage doors.
• Assist with problem solving and troubleshoot overhead door or dock maintenance issues. Install various types of doors and dock equipment
• Problem solve and troubleshoot dock or door maintenance issues
• Maintain truck, inventory and tools
• Communicate and report daily with management
• Complete all work assignments in a professional manner
• Work safely
• Complete after hours emergency service calls when needed
• Work in warehouse as needed.
• Assist with after-hours emergency service calls when needed.

Requirements

 Qualifications

• Must poses mechanical aptitude.
• Understand standard and metric measurements.
• Good decision-making skills and response to high pressure situations.
• Basic knowledge and understanding (or willingness to learn) of electrical components.
• Must have ability to utilize hand tools and power tools.

Required Experience

• High School Diploma/GED
• Field Service and Installation background experience a plus
• Valid drivers license with good driving record

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to climb and work from ladders, height up to 40 ft.
• Must be able to access and navigate office and warehouse (including mezzanine stairs).
• Must be able to lift 75lbs pounds at a time.
• Must be able to operate company truck as needed.
