Apprentice MPU Electrician

As an Apprentice Electrician, you’ll work under the supervision of experienced electricians to support solar installations by completing electrical tie-ins, performing main panel upgrades (MPUs), and ensuring each system meets code, quality, and safety standards. Responsibilities: 

• Assist with installation of electrical components in residential solar systems.
• Learn to perform AC disconnects, service panel upgrades (MPUs), and inverter installations.
• Help troubleshoot basic electrical issues under the guidance of a licensed electrician.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness.
  Support conduit bending, wiring, and material handling tasks.
• Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) properly.
• Ensure installations meet National Electrical Code (NEC), Michigan Electrical Code, and Ambia Energy standards. 
• Communicate effectively with homeowners and office staff regarding electrical services.
• Maintain documentation and complete inspection requirements in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of residential solar products such as inverters and modules.
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code and the Michigan Electrical Code.
• Enrollment in a state-recognized electrical apprenticeship program.
• OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain.
• NABCEP certification is preferred, but not required.
• A valid U.S. driver’s license is required.
• A clean driving record is required (no more than one moving violation in the past year and no more than two moving violations within the past 4 years).
• A background check will be performed on all new hires. 
• Ability to think critically, problem solve, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with technology devices (i.e. iOS and Android).
• An appetite for ownership and accountability.
• An attitude of seeing ways to get a job done rather than looking for reasons why it can’t be done.

• Enrollment in a state-recognized electrical apprenticeship program.
• Willingness to travel within the state.
• Follow safety and company guidelines.
• Providing regular updates on job status, and completing necessary paperwork daily. 
• Ability to lift/carry 50+ lbs. 
• Ability to be on your feet the entire day (which is often long).
• Ability to work in all weather conditions. 
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to scale residential homes and work at all different heights.
• Travel within 200 miles may be required.
