Job Description - Aquatic Director (Full-Time Exempt)

Description

Do you have a passion for the field of Aquatics and enjoy working with people? Do you have experience in Aquatic Management and Supervisory experience? We are looking for a dynamic individual to join the busy aquatics department at the Tri Branch YMCA!

Under the direction of the Branch Director, the Aquatic Director is primarily responsible for supervising all lifeguards and managing the safety of the pool at the Tri Community Branch, Lakefront at Camp Foskett and the Andrew Petro pool in the summertime. Additional responsibilities involve supervising, training, coaching staff, administrative responsibility of the department and provide program development in accordance with the guidelines proposed by the YMCA of the USA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the highest member service standards are constantly maintained in the aquatic department.
  • Assist in the implementation and supervision of aquatic programs and collaborations ensuring the highest quality and adherence to YMCA standards.
  • Recruit, hire, train, retain, coach and evaluate qualified Lifeguards. Maintain harmony among staff members and resolve grievances.
  • Ensure appropriate staff coverage for all lifeguard shifts. Will cover any unoccupied shifts.
  • Provide Lifeguard in-service training of staff monthly with additional Lifeguard Instructors to ensure the highest standards of safety and Risk Management.
  • Oversee administration of department including staff payroll, annual reviews, program budgets, and pool/ program schedules
  • Ensure the highest standards for aquatic safety including Department of Public Health standards are constantly maintained.
  • Make sure clear, concise, and consistent information is communicated to members and staff.
  • Play an active leadership role in the branch's Annual Campaign, assist leadership in the successful completion of the campaign and other related special events and activities
  • Attend Aquatic Task Force meetings and other required meetings within the Branch and Association.
  • Assume responsibility for the physical upkeep of the pool and department.
  • Assist in, any and all, branch programs and activities at the request of supervisor.
  • Waterfront & Public Pool Supervisor Management on hiring and training of all seasonal lifeguards for Camp Foskett and Andrew Petro Pool.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with at least 2 years of experience in supervision or 1 years experience with increasing responsibilities. 
  • Requires completion and maintaining certification as Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, LGI and Aquatic Facilities Management. 
  • Strong communication and human relations skills in dealing with staff and members are essential. 
  • This position requires decision-making skills, as it relates to aquatic safety and the efficient operation of the aquatic area

Schedule: Mondays-Fridays. Hours can vary based on program needs.  (Saturday/Sunday as needed)

Job Type: Salary Exempt 

Pay: $47,476 annually
