About the Role\n\nWe are looking for a seasoned materials and process expert to lead the development of advanced glass substrates for AR/MR waveguides. This role combines deep knowledge of glass melting technology, high\u2011refractive\u2011index glass formulation, and precision thickness control with the ability to scale processes from R\u0026D to high\u2011volume manufacturing. You will work at the intersection of optics, materials science, and manufacturing innovation to enable next\u2011generation immersive experiences.\n\nExpertise \n\n * Glass Material Development\n * Research and develop high\u2011index optical glass compositions optimized for AR applications.\n * Deep understanding of melting and forming processes to achieve superior optical properties and minimal defects.\n * Process Engineering\n * Design and implement thickness and flatness control strategies (TTV, wedge, transmitted wavefront).\n * Develop advanced metrology and SPC systems to ensure substrate quality.\n * Scale\u2011Up \u0026 Manufacturing\n * Experience in transitioning lab\u2011scale processes to 300 mm wafer platforms and high\u2011volume production.\n * Collaborate with glass vendor, equipment vendors and suppliers to establish robust process windows with right cost structure.\n * Cross\u2011Functional Collaboration\n * Partner with optics, photonics, and hardware teams to integrate substrates into AR waveguide designs.\n * Drive co\u2011optimization of materials, design, and process for efficiency and color uniformity.\n * Innovation \u0026 IP\n * Contribute to patents and internal best\u2011practice documentation.\n * Stay ahead of industry trends and define next\u2011generation substrate roadmaps.\n\n\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n * Education: MS or PhD in Materials Science, Glass Science, Applied Physics, or related field.\n * Experience:\n * Proven expertise in glass melting and forming technologies.\n * Hands\u2011on experience with high\u2011index glass development and optical\u2011grade substrate processing.\n * Familiarity with NIL vs. etched grating processes and AR waveguide integration.\n * Skills:\n * Strong understanding of refractive index engineering and optical performance metrics.\n * Proficiency in metrology for thickness, flatness, and transmitted wavefront.\n * Ability to scale processes from prototype to mass production.\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n * Experience with AR/MR waveguide substrates and thin\u2011glass handling.\n * Knowledge of CMP/polishing, coatings, and surface quality optimization.\n * Background in supplier engagement and cost\u2011performance trade\u2011offs for large\u2011scale glass manufacturing.\n\n\n\nWhy Join Us\n\nYou will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AR optics by delivering ultra\u2011flat, high\u2011index glass substrates that meet stringent optical and manufacturing requirements.
