Job Description - AR / VR Architecture Power and performance systems engineer

## \nCompany:\n\nQualcomm Technologies, Inc.\n\n## Job Area:\n\nEngineering Group, Engineering Group \u003e Multimedia Systems\n\nGeneral Summary:\n\nQualcomm\u0027s XR System Architecture Team is looking for power and performance analysis engineer who will work on driving the next generation technologies and architectures of Snapdragon SoC, enabling the future of Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality applications.\n\nThe successful candidate may be responsible for:\n\n * Understanding various power domains and voltage rails of the Snapdragon SoC and the interdependencies among the power architecture elements. Capturing and analyzing system performance through power waveforms, compute performance (utilization, MIPS/cycles), and bandwidth (memory/cache traffic).\n\n * Characterizing the performance of XR algorithms by quantifying the software and hardware workloads as well as collective system performance by performing on-silicon execution. Gathering and analyzing complex empirical data (power, compute workload, memory traffic etc.) to isolate factors that impact optimal performance of future SoC architectures.\n\n * Managing the power analysis lab setup consisting of hardware and software resources/tools like prototype power boards, power waveform equipment and software tools. Developing automation/scripts for controlling test scenarios execution and output data analysis.\n\n * Using system level use case modeling to validate power and performance KPIs.\n\n\n\n\nFor this multi-disciplinary role, an ideal candidate has good knowledge of SoC blocks and characterization of power, performance, thermal aspects of chipset architecture as required by AR/VR algorithms and applications. Knowledge in one more of the following areas is preferred:\n\nAR/VR, camera and display technologies, GPUs, NPU, CPU and Hardware Accelerators. Computer vision, machine learning, perception algorithms.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n\u200b\u200b- Master\u2019s degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.\n\n\\- 4+ years\u2019 experience in power analysis, SoC architecture with emphasis on areas listed above\n\n\\- Experience in conducting power/performance analysis, SoC architectural trade-offs, and/or SW-HW trade-offs\n\n\\- Knowledge of graphics pipeline, computer vision pipelines, machine learning methods and/or camera pipelines\n\n\\- Knowledge of AR/VR technologies and CV/ML based algorithms like 6DoF,\n\n\\- Experience with system level modeling and on-silicon analysis and profiling (performance and/or power)\n\n\\- Outstanding problem-solving skills\n\n\\- Outstanding communication skills\n\n\\- C/C++ and/or Python\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nMaster\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. \n \n*Works in the lab, can use hazardous chemicals (e.g., glue, machinery).\n\nQualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
